A Guide to Making Love (2022)

A Guide to Making Love is a micro-budget experimental documentary feature film that combines narrative, theory and comedy to explore the contradictory nature of subjectivity and desire. It was a project that Peter Rollins and I created together during the Covid lockdowns. It intertwines some of our short films with philosophical interventions from Peter.

The film premiered at Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival.

It is available to watch at Everyday Analysis here.

I co-wrote, directed, produced and co-edited this project. Peter co-write, produced and presented it. Caleb Swyers and Will Murray Brown were also editors. Sound design and mix was by Damian Enemark, colour by Bryce Behrman, animation by Prosper Unger-Hamilton. Music was by Minco Eggersman and Daniel Bedingfield.

On the ‘philosophy’ shoot, we worked with Jim Crone as cinematographer, Paul Livingstone as camera assistant, Sam Houston as production assistant, Erin McCabe as art director and Davy Kilpatrick as sound recordist.

The above artwork is by Célie Cadieux. This and her additional designs for the film were selected to be included at the Academy archive.
